Current rules reflect changes made that improve balance of play, correct some textual ambiguity, and add additional realism to the simulation. Marco’s review was made before the following changes that are now in the Living Rules and in any future printed game. When conducting arrow fire, Norman archers run out of arrows on a 1 only, not a 1 or a 2 as before. Charging knights get a + 2 DRM instead of a + 1 DRM. We feel this will give the Norman side greater chances. Also, a minor victory is achieved if one side is disorganized at the end of the game and the other is not.
Historically, Harold chose the battlefield. He did so wanting William to be forced to attack uphill into the shield wall with no room for flanking maneuvers.
