We Shall Fight on the Marne

Game design by Michael W. Kennedy

We Shall Fight on the Marne is an operational level simulation of the battle of the First Marne, 1914. Having invaded Belgium and north eastern France, the German army had reached within 30 miles of Paris. With victory seemingly near, the German First Army was instructed to encircle Paris from the east. Thus began the battle of the First Marne. We Shall Fight on the Marne is a two-player game, or it can be played solitaire. Game mechanics by designer Michael W. Kennedy include cavalry reaction and screening, command points to execute actions, variable weather, air observation, bridge removal/build pontoon bridges, forced marches and pre-attack bombardment .
