"Master and Commander is the best game on naval action set in the 1700-1800s." - Mario M.

"Light. fluffy, fun and the type of addictive where you say, ah you know, we have enough time to set up an bang out a smaller scenario. Lot of value here with M&C in terms of sheer number of solid scenarios and some very fun perhaps unbalanced ones. Surprisingly for such a "light" game, it captures and well reflects the key tangible lessons of that period. It's the first sea warfare game of this period of naval warfare I  have played and I can't think of any better introduction says this experienced gamer who now got his feet "wet". Recommended." - Smitty at Panzer Digest. Read the full review.

Master and Commander is a simulation of Napoleonic naval combat. Simple rules are employed for fast play while still

retaining the essence of Napoleonic naval combat. Players can chose to play an historical scenario, a "free purchase"

battle or a duel. In a free purchase game, each player starts with 50 Ship Purchase Points and spends those points to build a fleet. A ship costs an amount equal to its Fire Power value. For play variety, players can set up coastal terrain with Fort and Shore Battery markers along map edges. Players determine the wind direction before the game begins. Three historical scenarios are included in the game box. A scenario book of twenty-three additional historical naval combat scenarios for the American War of Independence is available for free download in the link below. Scenarios and games can be between one or two ships per side or between fleets of ships. This is an upgrade of the classic WDG game with new counter and marker art, new design features and historical scenarios by Peter Schutze.
